I have worked in the behavior and addiction field for over fifteen years and hold a master’s degree in Addiction Counseling. I am a Recovery Coach and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (NJ) for those seeking recovery through alcohol moderation or sobriety. This is your journey and your choices, and my coaching/counseling style is to meet you where you are at, motivate you and help you find long-term solutions for substance abuse. Purpose, passion, and connection are almost always lost in substance abuse and can be found again with simple interventions. I work with all demographics and have specialized in young adults, women, and parents struggling with substance abuse issues. My coaching style is laid back and consists of positive psychology practices including Motivational Interviewing, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, CBT and DBT. Recovery is not cookie cutter, and neither is my coaching approach. I draw from addiction theorists and renowned psychologists as well as pop culture, movies, songs, and anything inspirational. I use humor in everything I do because it is good for the soul and not everything has to be intense. I believe each individual needs to define what recovery is for them and how it will work for them, whether it is alcohol moderation or sobriety from the substance of their choice. I will help create an individualized plan that will help restore purpose, passion and connection in your life.
Change My World Recovery was born out of the frustrations with typical addiction counseling practices, traditions, and an inability to progress at an acceptable speed. There are many things the field has done right and with the best intentions. Still, some of the "rules" governing traditional addiction counseling do not fit in the person-centered positive psychology space we prefer. As counselors/moderation coaches, we can best serve clients looking to make life changes and find recovery on their terms. CMW lets the client decide what works for them and their life and only asks them to consider options stemming from contemporary evidence-based practices and research.
